Lefkada is an Ionian island, one out of the seven existing in the complex of Eptanisa (seven islands). Lefkada is connected to the mainland by a 50m, mobile ferry bridge. Lefkada has an area of 3025m2 and 23.000 inhabitants. The capital of Lefkada island is the town of Lefkada. The prefect of Lefkada also administers the islands of Meganissi, Kalamos, Kastos, Scorpios, Madouri, Sparti, Thilia, Kithro and other smaller islands.
At the entrance of Lefkada you come across the Venetian Castle of Santa Maura which inspires stories from another era. The history is everywhere in Lefkada and goes deep throughout the centuries. The people you will meet are hardworking, honest and hospitable. The scenery is breathtaking.
